EDUCATION

On December 11th, 1986

Alfred W. Benson received certification as an In-Shore Hydrographer from the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping.        

 

EMPLOYMENT                                                       

from 1977 to 1980

During the above period Alfred W. Benson III was employed by American Dredging Company, (previously located in Camden, New Jersey) performing fathometric surveys on hundreds of dredging projects.

                                            

from 1980 to Present

During the above period Alfred W. Benson III has been a partner/owner of Hydrographic Surveys. Hydrographic Surveys specializes in fathometric surveys and has performed over 1,500 surveys. Alfred W. Benson III is in charge of all office and field operations, proposals, personnel management, project management, quality control of raw field data, project scheduling and marketing.  He is boat captain and party chief. .

 

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Designs custom hydrographic surveying equipment and developed two surf zone surveying methods. The most recent development by Alfred W. Benson III, used to performing the safest, most accurate and fastest way of determining the elevation of the beach and seabed, is The Strider. All experts agree that The Strider will ultimately save lives as research increases in the extremely hazardous surf zone! Operates Hydrographic Survey software Hypack Max, operating system Windows XP, during data collection. Captain of survey vessel for 25 years.

 

Bill Benson has been in the hydrography field for over 25 years, as well as partner/owner of Hydrographic Surveys since 1980.  Bill's responsibilities include general oversight of all office and field operations, proposals, estimates, clientele relationships, maintenance management, project management, quality control of raw field data, project scheduling and marketing.  Aside from being a boat captain, Bill also designs custom hydrographic surveying equipment and has developed two surf zone surveying methods.
